Scuba Diving Costa Rica's Bajo del Diablo Aboard Okeanos Aggressor I

Caño Island is a small island off the southwest Pacific coast of Costa Rica that’s protected as a biological preserve. Combine national protection with this island’s distance from the shore and the result is epic scuba diving, with the big stuff coming in to visit like manta rays, whales, whitetip sharks and occasionally great hammerheads.

Traveling aboard the Okeanos Aggressor I liveaboard — Aggressor Fleet’s beautiful 110-foot yacht that explores this Costa Rican island and its nearby dive sites — we have the chance to experience this unforgettable diving firsthand. One of the highlights of the trip was a dive site called Bajo del Diablo, located on the west coast of Caño. This site ranges from about 70 to 115 feet, giving you the chance to go face to face with whitetip sharks, mobs of fish and mantas. We had the chance to fin alongside a majestic manta ray that was hooked by a fishing lure. One of the divers aboard Okeanos Aggressor I was able to help the animal out and remove the lure.

Aggressor offers seven-day trips Caño Island from January to May. To see the schedule and availability, visit Aggressor.com.
