Florida Keys
The Keys are perhaps the most dived area in the state. They are a string of islands, each with a surrounding coral reef system sitting along the Florida Bank, a ledge that channels warm water from the Gulf Stream into the Gulf of Mexico creating a large reef system. The surrounding waters have now been designated a national marine park to protect the corals in the area. John Pennekamp park in Key Largo is one of the most popular areas to dive or snorkel.
