The 2019 Gear Guide breaks down the accessories that will help you enjoy your dives no matter what the ocean throws at you.
Akona Men's and Women’s Sun Shirt/Rash Guard
The new Sun Shirt was developed to defend sensitive skin with a 50-plus SPF rating that blocks 97.5 percent of damaging rays. The shirts offer increased comfort and durability thanks to material that is breathable and 200-percent more flexible that traditional lycra.
Cressi Solo Flex 7/5 hood
Made of HS200 high-stretch neoprene for exceptional comfort and fit, the Solo Flex hood provides thermal protection by using 7 mm neoprene in the head area, and watertight comfort by using 5 mm skin-in neoprene for the face and neck seals. The face area is left unbound to allow for custom trimming. The hood is available in three sizes.
Ist Sports CV01 2-in-1 Windbreaker
For keeping warm between dives or after the diving’s done, this 2-in-1 windbreaker is just the ticket. The under-vest is made of high-grade 2 mm neoprene and features a front zipper and elastic material at the waist to maximize comfort. The over-coat is made of a lightweight water-repellent fabric and includes a hood.
Mares Pure boots
This new 2 mm neoprene boot from Mares is designed to be lightweight and has a number of features that increase convenience and comfort. The sole of the Pure boot is very flexible, and the sides are composed of a self-draining material so you won’t be walking around in sloshy boots in between dives. The Pure boots are available in sizes 4 through 12.
Mares Ultraskin Men's Shorts w/ Long Sleeve Top
Mares’ undersuit components are made with three different materials. On the inside, a fleece layer ensures warmth and comfort. In the middle, a windproof, breathable polyurethane layer locks in heat. And on the outside, a stretchy Lycra layer keeps it all protected and flexible.
Mares Ultraskin Women's Shorts with Long Sleeve Top
This undersuit exposure system offers serious flexibility. The trilaminate construction blends a fleece lining with a breathable polyurethane membrane and a Lycra shell to offer warmth and comfort on its own or under a wetsuit. And it’s available in six sizes for both men and women.
Scubapro Everflex 1.5 mm System
Scubapro’s smart dive wear is constructed from a marriage of water-repellant, high-stretch neoprene with a heat-retaining fleece lining for maximum warmth and range of motion. Available in long and short sleeve tops, shorts and pants for both genders, the interchangeable system covers a wide range of conditions.
Scubapro Alpha Boot
This 4 mm boot uses a laced closure instead of zipper to achieve a secure fit. The interior features a warm, comfortable diamond span lining that dries quickly while the outside is constructed with neoprene, nylon and anti-abrasion fabric. The anti-slip sole provides traction on wet surfaces and provides additional security in the toe and heel areas.
Scubapro K2 Extreme
This one-piece suit is made from a high-flex, breathable dual fleece material designed to maintain maximum warmth while allowing unwanted moisture to escape. Performance features include compression padding at the shoulders, chest and knees, elastic wrist loops and heel straps, and handy hip pockets with zippered closures.
Scubapro K2 Light
For moderate to temperate water temps when thick, bulky undergarments aren’t required, the K2 Light offers a comfortable alternative that doesn’t compromise on performance. The flexible, light-grid plush material is breathable, while conserving body heat in the core. Elastic wrist loops and heel straps keep everything in place.
Scubapro Seamless 1.5 Glove
This glove, made of ultra-flexible 1.5 mm neoprene, uses heat-taped seams to eliminate the need for traditional stitching and increase dexterity — allowing you to press buttons on your dive computer with ease. The palms feature a soft, printed material that provides a good nonslip surface and the flexible material makes it easy to get on and off.
Waterproof Sport Skin
Wear the Sport Skin by itself in warm water for protection from the sun, abrasions and jellyfish stings, or as an under layer to make getting in and out of a wetsuit easy. Super-stretchy, the skin fits all body shapes, and its flat-lock stitching doesn’t irritate bare skin. Extra-wide foot stirrups and thumb loops are designed to prevent ride up.
